Dermatophytes: Ringworm in cats? Yep, I did it! - Pets

2025-10-22

▍Identity Card

• Scientific name: Microsporum canis

• Nickname: Cat Fungus King (over 70% of cat fungus cases are from my own hands—haha~)

• Location: The fluorescent green light from the Wood's lamp on my cat—that’s me, hahaha~

▍Method of Operation

• Stealthy infiltration: Penetrating the skin through tiny wounds, it secretes a special "dissolving enzyme" that breaks down keratin into minuscule debris—this is essentially the early stage of feline ringworm.

• Spreading Territory: Forming circular hair-loss areas, boldly dominating and expanding across your pet’s body!

• Humans and pets alike: You think your pet can dodge you—only to slip through unnoticed? Of course not! I’ll install a little “red, ring-shaped” fortress right on your skin~

▍Please, don't treat me like this

• Isolate your sick pet: Though it’s heartbreaking, isolation is absolutely essential! It effectively prevents spreading the infection to other animals or family members.

• Herbal Bath Spray: Seek professional help and purchase legitimate, effective medications!

• Environmental Purge:

→ Wipe the floor and wash the litter mat with disinfectant (spores can survive for up to 1 year!).

→ Focus the vacuum cleaner on corners where pets frequently hang out.
